The Death of Archbishop Romero

The Death of Archbishop Romero

Murder walked the streets of San Miguel, liberated, seething
the hem of her cloak was ragged, black and torn
caked with blood, brains and the meat of souls
from years of work, toil, and tally of numbers

The Black Twins, murder and death
walked among the many
soiled black coats flowing in their trail
their boots soaked in the blood of innocence

The light of God
rose over the horizon
of Hell's San Miguel
scattering the demons of BAAL

He spoke of Light, Liberation, and God
he touched the poor, the filthy, and the oppressed
with hands of velvet, words of redemption and peace
the glory of God would stop the genocide, and the destruction,

El Salvador, my child, come in from rain, rest your ragged soul
my house is your house, my water is your water, my death
will be your liberation, freedom is here, life has come
my hands will wash your feet, my arms will comfort you child.

El Salvador, El Salvador...
